"Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me". Pirates Of The Caribbean will have you singing these words to the song that plays throughout this classic and, in my opinion, best of all Magic Kingdom Adventureland attractions for hours after you leave.

This is the ride that brings me back to Adventureland and the Magic Kingdom over and over again!

Everyone has their favorite Disney World attraction. Pirates of the Caribbean is definitely mine. It is not a thrilling ride other than one slight 14' drop. The attraction here is the very realistic animatronic pirate figures that now include Captain Jack Sparrow and his arch enemy Captain Barbossa, characters from the popular movies, that were based on this classic attraction.



The fun begins in the queuing area, where you make your way through a long dark winding cave toward the boat loading area. Along the way you pass many interesting pirate artifacts, everything from cannon to treasure chests. On boarding the boat and leaving the dock you enter a dark tunnel to be greeted by an ominous voice stating "Dead Men Tell No Tales."

After passing scenes such as a skeleton standing at a ship's wheel, the water becomes a little choppy and a skull and crossbones overhead issue the following stern warning "Ahoy there Mates there be rough waters ahead." The boat then drops over a waterfall (this is the previously mentioned short drop) and enters a lagoon where pirates are attacking and sacking a Spanish colonial city in the 18th century Caribbean.

The attention to detail here is incredible, complete with a full sized pirate ship (Captain Barbossa in command) and a fort /castle exchanging cannon fire. You can feel the blast of air when the cannons fire.

Marauding pirates are everywhere creating havoc, carousing, and looting (Keep an eye out for Jack Sparrow who pops up in many different places throughout the ride ). Anyone who has seen any of the recent Pirates of the Caribbean movies will recognize many of the scenes and characters portrayed here.

Look out for the pirate sitting on a bridge dangling a very hairy leg over the edge.




While the theme of Pirates of The Caribbean may seem a little dark, there is no need to worry. This is after all Disney World and Disney manage to make the whole experience both lighthearted and highly enjoyable.

Since the release of the movies this classic Adventureland attraction has grown even more popular and lines have increased in length but as it has two waiting lines and is a continuously loading attraction the wait is usually not to long.

My Verdict:

If you only visit one Adventureland attraction make it this one! Pirates of The Caribbean is a truly one of a kind experience- Disney at its very best.

TIP:

As this classic Adventureland attraction is indoors and air conditioned, it is an excellent way to escape the heat for a while.
