When planning a Disneyworld Orlando Vacation, there are five main questions that always come
up. I have
listed them below along with my opinions.
What is the best time of the year to visit Disneyworld Orlando?
The best time to tour Disneyworld-Orlando is when the weather is moderate and the crowds
manageable. That means October, November ,December, January, February, March, and April
(excluding
holidays).
September, after Labor Day Weekend until the week before Thanksgiving, is a
great time to visit Disney world. Low crowds and great weather.
My family's favorite time is the week after Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas. The
weather is
great (though it can be a little chilly), crowds are reasonable, and everywhere is decorated for the
holidays.
See below for current weather conditions in Orlando.
We never go to Disneyworld Orlando on or around holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.) as the crowds are huge and we don't feel that we get value for
money.
However, if traveling as a family your choice of vacation times may be limited by school
and work schedules. If this is the case, don't despair just make sure you have park hopper passes
so
you can move freely from park to park. And be prepared to be flexible!
Where should we stay?
Is it best to stay at an official Disney world Orlando Resort or somewhere outside Disney
property? In my opinion, if a Disney hotel on property fits your budget, it is much the best
choice.
You have access to all of Disney's transportation (monorail, boats, and buses) and you also have
access to early entry (mornings) and extra hours( evenings) at selected parks and other perks (not
available to
those staying elsewhere.)
There are now many different choices and price ranges at on property hotels, everything from
Deluxe to Value. They are all themed and are almost like little theme parks themselves. My
family
stays at Disney hotels (the Polynesian is our favorite) whenever possible, although we do
sometimes stay off property.
Do we need to rent a car?
This depends a lot on where you intend to stay. Are you going to stay on Disney property or at
an off site hotel? If you stay at a Disney Resort a car is not essential as Disney world
transportation
is free and works very well. However, some locations are better served than others.
If you choose an offsite hotel, I would definitely recommend a rental car. As access to Disneyworld Transportation will be limited and relying on hotel
shuttles can be a real pain! Some are free, some are not. Many make multiple stops and are often
overwhelmed at busy periods such as park opening and closing times.
Which Disney Ticket is right for our vacation?
There is no easy answer to this question. Disney offers many different options, from one-day one
park tickets to multiple-day multiple park hopper passes. For more in depth information check
the Disney
ticket section of this guide.
Which park should we see first?
Whether this is your first time at Disneyworld Orlando or your 100th, the most important decision you will
make
is at which themepark or theme parks do you plan to spend most of your time? Why is this so
important? Because it will affect every other decision you will make. Read on to find out why.
I recommend that you study the themeparks section of this Disney world Orlando guide to familiarize yourself with
what
each park has to offer. Things to consider are the age range of your party and are thrill rides
important?
How much walking can you do in one day without a break? Which parades, shows and
fireworks do you want to see? Will you be taking breaks
away from the park and returning later the same day.?
It is important to know these things as they will have a big affect on where you choose to stay
and whether you will need to rent a car.
When my family and I are planning a vacation to Disneyworld Orlando we always start our
decision
making with where we will be spending most of our time. Then we decide on where we
will stay, bearing in mind all the transportation options for each location we are considering.
Why? Because we have learned from past experience that we don't want to be spending
a large chunk of our time sitting in the car in
Orlando traffic jams miles from our destination. This is especially important late at night after a
long day in the parks! Or when needing to get an early start.
